...The photos I didn't spend ages composing, framing, worrying about light and shadows, the photos where instinct takes over and the right equipment is whatever is in your hands at the time.

I saw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Myf0IJ7YCRU the other day, it's very much about that.

As for carrying too much gear, I used to take a stack of cameras with me whenever I went out, but at some point I realised that if I have two cameras then I'd take two bad photos of everything, but if I had one camera there's a chance I'd have taken a good one. Your brain learns the shape of the frame, or something...

I've used 400 films in box cameras on dull days (and you can always hold a yellow filter (or orange, or red) over the lens if it's sunny)

Or... check out http://westfordcomp.com/classics/empire120/march2010/
If you're doing your own development you can do what he does.
(I've heard of people having three or four Holgas on the go at once, with different speed films and/or different development regimes written on the back)

Nice job !
I like the reversibility of this modification.

If you need to find pictures of a 126 cartridge where you can see the film side have a look to this from my stream

I ended up having some problems with the little lever tripping and sometimes damaging the sprocket holes on the film, so in the end I just trimmed it back so it never comes in contact with the film at all. I had read somewhere on how to remove the assembly completely and might still do that so I can do double exposures.

Thanks for the info, and thanks for visiting!

Hello Jason,
I have left a link for this page on my tumblr blog, I was just wondering whether this was okay.
http://definitelyfilm.tumblr.com/post/880218724/another-charity-shop-trip

If you follow that link it will show you how I have set it out.
I am new to this blogging game and I wasn't sure on the correct procedure on how to accredit you for this guide.
Hopefully it is satisfactory, if not I will remove it right away.

Thanks for the great tips! I finally have my 126 set up and ready to shoot. The biggest problem I had was getting the film advance/shutter lock to work. The holes in 35mm are too small the trip the lever that unlocks the shutter after advancing the film. So, I ended up removing that whole assembly, and now it is more Holga-like in that the shutter and film advance are independent of each other, and I can do multiple exposures!

The film used on all these photos is cheap, "snapshots" branded 400iso 35mm print film. Normally, I would use either Kodak Ultramax 400 or Fuji Superia 400. No cross processing was done to any of the images here. Because I scan them in my self, I have a lot of freedom ion how the colours look on the final image. Because cross processing involves shooting more expensive film (slide film), I find it easier to just shoot the cheapest film I can find and then add the effect after scanning if I want it.

I have been using the snapshots brand film as my local K-Mart (in Australia) was selling out their stocks at $4 for 4 rolls.

Hello! I'm thinking of purchasing a Superheadz Wide Angle Lens camera and I chanced upon your site. Do you mind sharing with me the film you used when taking the photos with the Superheadz camera in this post?
I am also very interested in vivid yet a nostalgic kind of images and was wondering if the films used on this camera have to be cross processed to produce such effects?
