Between The Sprockets A photography blog

Technique

Here you can learn from my experiences with short pieces on various subjects.

35mm Film in a 126 cartridge.

Transplanting 35mm film into 126 cartridges.  126 isn't made anymore, so if you want to use your old Instamatic or other 126 camera, this is a good, cheap option.  You will need a 126 cartridge for this to work.

Full Frame Instamatic.

Slicing up 120 film to fit into 126 cartridges.  If you like you Instamatic, but don't like sprocket holes, this is an option for you that will produce full frame shots (not crops).

Using a Light Meter.

A light meter can be a little intimidating if you've never used one before.  I admit, I had to look up how to read one properly after I found one in a second hand shop.  It's not as hard as your think, and it's an invaluable tool for those that like to shoot old, manual cameras.

Understanding Cameras

In the first of this series I walk through some of the underlying concepts of photography.  In this lesson I talk about shutter speed and aperture and what it means to your final image.
